The Mold Setter is responsible for completing mold changes (Setups) when changes (Setups) are required as dictated by the molding production schedule.
Essential Functions (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Perform mold changes according to production schedule.
- Perform End of Arm Tool changes as needed.
- Prioritize mold changes with supervisor, manager, and Production Control when multiple orders need to be completed.
- Operate overhead cranes to move mold tools in a safe manner.
- Follow and complete mold change checklist as the mold change progresses.
- Communicate mold change activities with Maintenance, Process Technicians, Resin Handlers, and Team Leaders to ensure efficiency of mold change process.
- Communicate to appropriate parties any developments that will create safety, quality, or production issues.
- Preform start of shift Crane safety inspection daily and verify via Crane inspection check sheet.
- Maintain mold management system by entering data after each mold change.
- Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Perform all work within the specification of the mold change procedures.
- Perform in-press mold cleanings as needed as well as cleaning of tool back plates along with any other preventative maintenance as needed.
- Maintain IMM Mag Plates by making sure that they are always clean and free of any debris that may cause damage to tool or back plate.
- Troubleshoot issues with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical connections, as well as Thermolator equipment.
- Maintain 3R5S of machines and work area.
- Comply with all safety rules and guidance such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and IATF16949
- All other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)
Required Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving and mechanical skills
- Ability to make good decisions and take decisive action in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Just-in-Time manufacturing experience
- Just-in-Sequence manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices
- Overhead crane operator certification

- Operating heavy equipment
- Ascending/descending stairs and ladders
- Maneuvering on top of mold tools up to 15 feet high
- Lifting minimum of 50 lbs.
- Work overtime as needed (Including Weekends)
