Overview

The Associate Engineer is responsible for developing detailed processes to produce injection molded and painted components and assemblies.  The incumbent also develops, coordinates, and participates in new process and continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Specifies, designs, and builds special process tools and fixtures
  • Estimates production process cycle times and performs costs analysis
  • Ensures that production processes are capable of producing parts based on engineering specifications
  • Modifies production processes and updates all relevant Process Sign-Off (PSO) and other production related documents
  • Participates in presentations to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to ensure understanding of production processes
  • Complies with TS 16949 Standards and expectations to ensure on-going process quality
  • Collaborates with all levels of Team Members and managers to ensure accurate and timely results
  • Assists the Manager in identifying process training needs and works to develop and to maintain individual skills proficiency
  • Participates on new model development and design teams, and provides technical support for Headquarters Engineering
  • Attends and conducts safety meetings
  • Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and reports non-compliance
  • Complies with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations
  • Follows safety rules and procedures, wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and complies with 3R and 5S requirements

Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate with HQ about new model launching issues (Different time zone)
  • Ability to manage projects and to achieve established deadlines
  • Ability to troubleshoot process issues and to identity visible business solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in both Korean and English

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing
  • Experience working with tools for taking samples (welding, anchor bolts, fork lifts, etc.)
  • Experience with 2D or 3D Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) programs (AutoCAD, Mold flow, Catia V5)
  • Knowledge of injection molding and automation painting
  • Experience in automation system with any 6 Axis Robot or any PLC Program

Working Conditions

  • 50% in office, 50% on production floor
  • Extensive walking on the production floor
  • Operating hand tools
  • Some travel to customers and vendors
